ASU London financial support arrangements

At ASU London, we will award bursaries to ‘home’ students if they come from a low-income family. This can help students who may face more barriers to attending full-time education, enabling them to access a degree at ASU London.

The Student Hub can support students experiencing financial difficulties. We can check that you are receiving all the funding and benefits you are entitled to. We can also help you with budgeting and to understand your expenditures.

Please note that you will only receive one bursary, even if you are eligible for more than one

ASU London Access Bursary

If your household income is less than £35,000 a year, and you meet the eligibility criteria outlined below, you’ll automatically be awarded a bursary of up to £2,000 for every year of your course. This is not a loan: it is a gift from ASU London that does not have to be repaid and you can use the money for anything you want.

Eligibility criteria

To be awarded a ASU London Access Bursary, you must meet all the following eligibility criteria:

Be undertaking your first full-time undergraduate degree.
Qualify for home fee status and Student Finance maintenance support.
Liable for the full fee of £9,275 p.a.
Not be sponsored by a company or other body.
Have been means-tested by Student Finance England/ Northern Ireland/ Wales/ SAAS to have a final assessed household income of £35,000 or less.

Bursary amount

The Bursary amount will be determined on your final assessed household income:

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Payments are made directly into your bank account in two equal instalments on 1st December and 1st March.

Annual review

You will be asked to declare any updates to your final assessed household income on an annual basis. If your final assessed household income is in a different category to the one which you were originally assessed as, your Bursary amount will be adjusted up or down accordingly.

Students who were not eligible for a Bursary upon registration may also use this process to be assessed for a ASU London Bursary.
